Biographie

Alex Huber is a Swiss drummer, composer and improviser.


He both writes for and leads various bands of which include various Duos with Irish singer Lauren Kinsella and Swiss Reedist Urs Leimgruber, play in the Quartet The Workers with Omri Ziegele, Urs Leimgruber and Christian Weber and leads the band Chimaira, a quartet with Saxophonist Philipp Gropper, Pianist John Schröder and Bassist Oliver Potratz.


As a sideman, he‘s co-leading groups like KPSH, Kaiserbuck, Happy End, Kinsella/Henkel/Huber and others had the privilege of performing with musicians such as Tristan Honsinger, Hans Hassler, Achim Kaufmann, Tobias Delius, Matthias Schubert, Colin Vallon, Kalle Kalima, Samuel Blaser, Nils Wogram etc.


Besides, he is co-founder of the young Swiss independent label Wide Ear Records, a new platform for young Swiss musicians who decided to join forces to document their original music and make it available to an interested audience. He‘s also a member of the committee of WIM Zurich, a working space for improvised and experimental music. 


He's also recording, mixing and mastering records in his studio (NSB Rec.) for Labels like Clean Feed, Intakt, Leo Records, Wide Ear Records etc.
